After having launched Bandnews.org - for music addicts like us in October 2004 we weren’t perfectly sure how people would react to such a service since nothing comparable existed back then. Today we can say, all fans and bands are delighted by the system and we got amazingly great feedback. We want to thank all our users, beta-testers and registrants! It’s comforting and motivating for us to receive your thoughts!

Only three months after the online start, the german technology and computer magazine Tomorrow (Issue 02/05) already wrote a brilliant article about us. The magazine has approx. 570,000 readers, mostly located in german-speaking parts of Europe. You can read an excerpt of the category “Neu im Internet, die interessantesten neuen Sites” by clicking the more button or by getting the magazine at your local newspaper store. Thanks to the author Birthe Wenge.

Bandnews.org now features over 580 bands and 21000 news. People can register for free to get their personalised newsfeed by RSS or HTML, discover new bands on the genre pages and browse the archives back to the year 1993. If you like a band we haven’t included so far, please use the “Suggest a band” feature and we will index their news immediately.

A couple of months ago we had the idea of building a global resource for bandnews,
and because it was so new we were always in the process of rethinking
the programming structure and design orientation. Now that we've
approached our next milestone of happiness with the new and extended version, we want to release it to you.
Get the fresh and updated look at Bandnews.org, available in english AND german.
Not only the speed has improved but also a lot more features were incorporated to the site: personalised News, RSS Feed subscriptions, Top10 Bands, Win concert tickets and a lot more to go in the near future, eg. Mp3 Preview Player.
We love the new Bandnews.org and hope you do too ;-)

Alex has worked a lot on rebuilding the source code, especially caching and faster sql (db) methods. I've rebrushed the design, thought about new concepts for next year and feeded more bands with our lovely editor Theresa. Today we have 401 bands and over 15000 news. Wow!

Thanks to Donna we've been listed at Artistopia's music directory, a great resource when it gets to meet new artists, produce music, search for other influences, … they also give artists a lot of freedom in what they do. In order to ameliorate our position in their ranking I would kindly ask you to vote for Bandnews. It's quick'n'easy:

That's right! my.bandnews.org has just been released, a great and new tool around Bandnews.org! You can select your favorite bands to be included in your personalised newsfeed. It's a beta version working already quite fine ;-)

Furthermore the design has been a little rebrushed. You can see that on
the Search result, Band- and Genre pages. Less graphics, lighter, better to read and hopefully more structured. The news entries, source, etc. have been reworked too.

Not another new feature but an additional page is "Can't find a band?" - a list with bands not allowing to be indexed by our robot or not providing any news

As of today, exactly one month after our launch we have inserted 260 bands into Bandnews.org and furthermore crossed the magical border of 10.000 news!!! Check out this great source for band related news, automatically updated every hour.

As of today we have 172 bands, 6699 news… but the more important thing is, Alex has completed the implementation of a caching system, running in beta test right now. This should help us when getting more hits.

As of today we pushed 126 Bands in the Bandnews.org system adding to a total of 5221 News. BAM! The Rock section is still the biggest of all but Electronic is moving forward.

In case you’re wondering why I haven’t posted much the last days … Alex and I have worked in our dark-computing-room to push Bandnews.org online today. It’s a search engine for band related news, automatically updated throughout the day by a damn intelligent Bot. The site has just been released but it’s already a�highly developed version, you can use for approx. 50 bands so far�(Chemical Brothers, Beastie Boys, Green Day, Seeed, The White Stripes, …). Spread the word! We’d be�very interested�in�comments from early adopters/users ;-)
