It’s been a long time since I last spoke French but when I arrived in Marseille everything was fine. Leon, the friend I was visiting, picked me up and I could get a good first impression of Marseille by night. After a couple of days in Marseille we drove to the Provence, Cote d’Azur, St. Tropez and all the other great culture, beach and mountain spots. It was a great week and I’d love to go back there again soon. The flight from Berlin to Paris and the TGV (325 km/h) train don’t cost that much and with a little bit experience you also get good food for cheap money in this more expensive country.

Since it’s been impossible to go snowboarding due to a lack of snow in December we took the chance this saturday to drive to Semmering. It’s a great mountain just one hour away from Vienna, Austria. You can even ride your board during the night, they’ve got some lighting equipment. I hope we can go there again soon! 4 Pictures, one of me with my board (Joyride, Halfpipe 148cm), the next one with the two snowboards from Simi (Duotone) and her sister Sophie (Burton), a picture featuring me at the racing start, the last one with the two girls.

After
having spent a couple of days in Budapest, Hungary for New Year’s Eve,
I must say it’s been great! We enjoyed the year’s end/beginning right
next to the danube and checked out the city afterwards, which looks and
feels a lot like Vienna or Paris at some locations. The outskirts tend to be more decayed and seem abandoned although a majority of the population lives there.

I’ll be travelling to the “little” (actually there are over 8 million inhabitants) island of Hainan which is located in the south-east of China. My mother is doing some health seminars there and I’ll just enjoy the sun, beach and recreation areas ;-) We’ll be staying a couple of kilometers away from the next bigger city Sanya. Wondering how Christmas and New Year will bespent on Hainan, as we’re staying from 21st December till 05th January 2005. Any Information, comments?

Judith and I drove to Cologne to check out this year's Photokina. As I've written a couple of days ago I was interested in the new Eizo screen with Adobe RGB. I have to tell you, it's not worth the money. The difference to the normal displays is minimal. The best thing about the fair was this funny indian presentation about a Photo-Album software. Short: great photo exhibitions, nice cameras and lots more stuff to be amazed of.

The city itself is small, compact and somehow looking pretty artificial. We've been to the Club Art-Theater which was nicely looking but the people were a bit too schick. The amount of Adidas-Shoes guys was enormous, the becks beer Eur 3,20 and the club stamp was the Smirnoff logo. How much can you brand? You can know by looking at the details, this city is full of media-orientated people probably having lots of money ;-)

Hilarious Presentation of the great DigiPhotoArt Album Software
Download Quicktime Video (3,3MB)

Interesting highway sign meaning something like "bit of image-tree". Has nothing to do with the Photokina though ;)

Cosy Judith is driving. As you can see I'm still tired

Driving over a bridge and spotted this cable car. Futuristic scenario

Lots of photo-freaks fair checking out Digital cameras at the Photokina

The friendly host-family

I'm going to travel to Vienna to visit my mother's sixtieth birthday party. Wow time goes by so fast! Next to that extraordinary event I'll be working on my notebook but you can give me a call anyway, I should be free in the evenings

Photokina Fair Cologne, Germany

September 11th, 2004

I'm thinking of driving down south to Cologne for a first time visit to the Photokina (28.09 - 03.10.2004), "the" fair in Europe for Imaging, Photography and Digital Video Production. As it only takes place every two years I'm really eager to see it in 2004. I'd be travelling with my friend Judith Keller, a german photographer based in Berlin. Does anybody know of a place where we could stay over for one night? Let me know!

Experience the complete international range of products of more than 1,600 exhibitors from 45 countries, and open your eyes to the hightech treats that await you. Whether digital cameras, mobile imaging, storage and print media or AV communication – there’s photo-fun for everyone.

Eizo is presenting its new flatscreen CG220, the first 22" display with fadeless color range and the complete Adobe RGB spectrum. Unfortunately the price is to be expected right under EUR 5.000,- Damn!
The photo exhibitions and workshops should be interesting too.
